The documentary detailing the final twelve days of
Roger Federer’s career will debut on June 20.
“Federer: Twelve Final Days,” directed by Asif Kapadia and Joe Sabia, offers an intimate look at the 20-time Grand Slam champion’s last two weeks in tennis.
The film focuses on the 2022 Laver Cup, where Federer tearfully retired alongside his great rival Rafael Nadal. It includes interviews with Nadal, Djokovic, and Murray, as well as footage of Federer and his family in the days leading up to his departure from the sport.
A newly released trailer from Amazon Prime features Djokovic saying, “Roger’s legacy will be forever,” alongside scenes of Federer with his wife Mirka and children, and highlights of his victories, including five consecutive Wimbledon titles from 2003 to 2007.
When the documentary was commissioned, Federer expressed surprise at the outcome, as the footage was not initially meant for public release.
“During my career, I tended to shy away from having cameras around me and my family, especially during important moments. But I didn’t see the harm in shooting this as it was never intended for the public,” he said.
“However, we captured so many powerful moments, and it transformed into a deeply personal journey.”
