Carlo Ancelotti has been the coach of Real Madrid on several occasions. As a result, he has cumulatively led many matches.

In 2021, Carlo Ancelotti returned to Real Madrid. He has been the coach of the club since then, and it does not seem to be changing. Therefore, he is well on his way to becoming one of the most prominent coaches in the club’s history.

On Wednesday, Real Madrid was in action against Atletico Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final. It ended in a splendid 5-3 victory after extra time. But it was not just the victory that Ancelotti had to be pleased about. It was also his 263rd match as the coach of Real Madrid.

This means that he has now brought himself alongside Zinedine Zidane. He managed to lead the Spanish giant in 263 matches before deciding to move on.

However, if Carlo Ancelotti is to top the list, there is still a long way to go. The list is currently topped by Miguel Muñoz, who was the club’s coach from 1959 and for 15 years forward. During that period, he managed to lead the squad in 605 matches.

After the match, the Italian coach stated that he was very happy with the win against Atletico Madrid. However, he did not comment on achieving a personal milestone.

“The team never gives up. It’s part of Real Madrid’s DNA, and it’s good learning for the young ones. We could have lost, but we never surrender,” he said according to bold.dk after the match.

“The players are really happy, and we need to keep calm because it was an emotional game. We are 90 minutes from the trophy, and that’s the goal.”
